Royal Blueberries

In 1987, RBO founder dahinda meda purchased Royal Blueberries, a “no spray” farm west of Eugene. He established organic certification the next year. Two years later, Royal Blue Organics branched out into the coffee business when we purchased organic green coffee from the ISMAM cooperative’s first commercial crop. The coffee and blueberry offices coexisted at the blueberry farm until the winter of 1993, when our coffee office moved to the roasting facility across town.
While coffee is our main business focus, the organic blueberry farm is still an important part of what we do and who we are. The blueberry season runs from late June through mid-August. If you are ever in Eugene in the early summer months, make sure to visit a local natural food store or the weekly Saturday Market to get the best and biggest organic blueberries in town. If you time it right, you might even be able to come to our annual Blueberry Festival, and enjoy a potluck feast of creative blueberry dishes and homespun music!
Blueberries are only available locally in Eugene, fresh in season and frozen out of season. Te reserve a flat or two during the season, call Royal Blueberries at (541) 689-1836. (We are not a U-Pick farm.)
(Did you know that blueberries have many medicinal qualities? Find out more at www.ushbc.org/health.htm.)
